Stepping Up for Summer Gardening

Ready your rakes, gardening hoses, and trowels…it’s soon to be Summer and there’s no better time to get your garden in gear. Keeping a well-maintained garden is a great way to keep the outside of your home looking its best. In addition to looking great, gardens also help you eat healthier, keep you more in control of what types of pesticides and fertilizes come in contact with your veggies, and are quite economical. Rather than shell out big bucks for baby plants at a nursery, opt for packets of seeds. Start the seeds indoors and keep them in a sunny spot, like your kitchen widow. Plant vegetables that are easy to maintain and will produce a high yield, like tomatoes, green beans, peppers, and squash.

Get Spicey!

If you live in a small space and have limited room to garden, planting a pot of herbs like parsley, basil, chives, cilantro, and thyme is a great project. You ...
