When it comes to going green, you don’t have to spend a lot of green to make an impact. There are tons of ways to make great renovations in your home without blowing your budget out of the water. - 2. Wash laundry in cold water. There are plenty of detergent products today designed for cold water use if you prefer them. Normal detergents work fine, also. The point is that about 85% of the energy costs of laundry appliances are in heating the water.
- 3. Put a lock on your hot water heater, and turn the temperature down lower. You can buy a piece that will lock the temperature into place where you set it, so that you can only use so much hot water at a time. Then, you’ll learn to use less water and decrease all kinds of bills.
