Updating your mirror can refresh a bland bathroom and add light, space and personality to your home without costing a bundle. Here are a few tips for beautifying your favorite “looking glass.”
 
 
Replace a boring metal frame or add a frame to a plain mirror .
A wrought iron or bronze frame adds distinction to mirrors in large bathrooms. Faux stone or aged silver frames give blah mirrors a rustic look.
 
Wood tone frames are versatile and come in many colors and widths that fit in with just about any design or color scheme. There are even unpainted wood frames. Paint over the white frames with gold flake, lavender or any color that will brighten up your bathroom.
 
If you have a mirror covering the wall above your vanity, consider a floating frame. This is a frame that stops short of the mirror’s edge – with a space between the mirror and the frame.

Placing mirrors on walls across from each other will make a small bathroom look bigger.
Consider changing outdated light fixtures above mirrors and replace rows of light bulbs with small lamps above or to the side of the mirror.
